This Sunday, Sept 20 is the Emmy Awards hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. Who will be the winners and losers? Who do you want to see win an Emmy?
I think Neil Patrick Harris will do a great job as Emmy host, since he hosted the Tony Awards and did a wonderful job hosting it.
This past Monday we lost another great actor, Patrick Swayze lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 57. Patrick Swayze was best known for “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost,” as well as other movies. But he will always be remembered best for these movies. He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Lisa Niemi. She was also a dancer, which is how they met at his mother’s dance studio. On Sept 29, the memoirs that Patrick and Lisa wrote before his death, will be published.
Patrick and Lisa both seemed to have a happy life together and didn’t seem like a typical Hollywood couple. The world mourns this tragic loss! Hearts go out to Lisa and Patrick’s family.
This past Sunday night was the season finale of Design Star. The winner of Design Star was Antonio. I was surprised that Antonio beat out Dan for the winner spot and also won his chance to host his own TV show on HGTV. This Sunday night on Sept 20 , Antonio hosts a special called Antonio’s Project.
Next Sunday, Sept 20 is the season premiere of “Curb your Enthusiasm.” This show is hysterical. Larry David is so funny! If you’re not watching you need to be. Larry David, the co-creator along with Jerry Seinfeld, created and wrote for “Seinfeld.” George’s character is supposed to be Larry David.
On Curb your Enthusiasm, Larry says everything that is politically incorrect and that’s what makes this show so funny. I think it’s the funniest show ever on TV. It’s on HBO.
Tonight on HGTV is the season finale of Design Star. The winner will be crowned tonight. Will it be Dan? Or will it be Antonio? I’m rooting for Dan! Hope he wins! We shall see. The winner will be getting their own show on HGTV.
Tonight is on the season finale of Hung. This show has been picked up and will return for a second season. Hopefully this show will get better over time. It sometimes takes awhile for a show to come together and improve.
This past week’s episode sent Qristal home. She deserved to go. Her dress was very plain nothing out of the ordinary. They are down to 12 designers now.
Next month I’m seeing Topol in his final performance of “Fiddler on the Roof ” at the Broward Center of the Performing Arts in Ft Lauderdale. Topol is in his 70’s and is retiring after his final U.S tour in this wonderful musical. Topol also starred in the movie version as well.
What can I say about this show. It has great music, great acting, and TRADITION!
This past Saturday I saw the play “Take Me Out” at the Rising Action Theatre in Oakland Park. The show was great! I have seen this show before, a few years ago I saw it at the Caldwell Theatre in Boca. But I have to say the show seemed to be different from what I remember seeing previously. I think the Rising Action Theatre changed it a bit. Which is fine because I still enjoyed the play very much!
The play is about a baseball team, the New York Empires, and one of their players comes out that he’s gay. The play deals mostly with racism as well as the homophobia. The players are african-american, hispanic, asian, and white. If you have not ever seen this show and it comes to your neighborhood, go see it!
After 7 years away from the music scene, Whitney Houston has launched a comeback CD which was released this past Monday. I purchased the CD as I have always liked Whitney’s voice. But I have to say even though I enjoyed the songs, I think Ms. Houston’s voice is not what it used to be. As far as vocal range I thought her voice sounded a bit strained. I guess that’s what an abuse of drugs will do to your vocal chords. This morning I also watched a performance of Ms. Houston’s on GMA and I have to say it was bad. Her voice cracked all over the place. It’s a shame! What a talent and it’s not the same. Can’t bring it back.
